About Me

The greatest passions in my  life are my wife, footie, politics, running, and travel.

I am currently teaching Social Studies 9, English Language Arts 9, and English 10-1 at Cold Lake High School.  I have worked for Alberta Learning since 2005 in various capacities:  PAT marker, PAT group leader and PAT marker trainer, PAT third reader, PAT examplar selection group, and developing Social Studies 9 PAT questions.  In my time in education I have been a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and I have also presented at two major conferences; Step Up Speak Out - National Staff Development Council Conference (2008) in Washington DC and the Thirteenth National Congress on Rural Education (2008) in Saskatoon.  I believe that my role is to make all students passionate about learning so that they can reach thier full potential.  Studies show that all students should be reading for 20-30 minutes per night.

Students can log into the classroom website by using their school email and password. All my students have been sent a request to their school email accounts (firstname.lastname@nlsd.ab.ca) to join this site.  They log into school email through the Gmail  page.  The website is updated daily with what we do each day in class as well as the notes and handouts.  You can also log in by going to this hyperlink.  Once in gmail please click on the 9 dots located in the top right hand corner.  Then a menu will appear.  At the bottom of the menu press more.  At the bottom of the drop down menu it should have a link that says "classroom".  Press on this hyperlink to view the class website.  As mentioned previously, all students have knowledge of how to use this site as we use it daily in class.
